Mostly when I have a couple apples to use up. And I love using my gluten free vegan oil tart crust, it is flaky and soft at the same time. And it comes together easily and you won't need to roll it out: just press it down with your hand or a glass!
Ingredients
To make this gluten free dairy free apple tart you will need:
- fresh apples, the ones you love most or have around at home will work!
- cinnamon powder, you can add a touch of ginger and nutmeg too
- lactose free or vegan butter to add creaminess to the apple filling
- this gluten free oil pie crust, it's ready in a moment and perfect for a quick tart base and to crumble on top!
- light brown sugar to sprinkle on top
Instructions
Making your own freshly bake vegan apple crumble tart is VERY easy:
- peel, core and thinly slice 3 apples (4 if they are small)
- place them in a medium pan, add cinnamon powder, water and butter and cook over medium heat for 10-15 minutes, mixing occasionally
- pre-heat the oven at 350°/175°C make the tart crust
- place ca. ⅔ of the dough in the pan and press it on the bottom and 1 inch on the sides
- fill the crust base with the cooked apples and crumble the dough on top
- sprinkle some sugar on top and bake for 30 minutes, or until the crust is light brown
I love how soft and delicious the apple filling in this tart always comes out! It matches amazingly with the crumble and crust!
And if you love a bit of crunch, you should definitely add a handful of chopped pecans or walnuts to the crumble.
